Earrings - Dainty Blue

Dining Out @ Ootaku Changi Point

Fast Breakfast Idea - Ham and Cheese Sandwich

This is another breakfast I made for the kids this morning. Ham and cheese can never go wrong together. It's so simple that you can slap everything together while waiting for your turn for the bathroom.

1. Wash a few pieces of lettuce and wipe dry with tissue.
2. Heat up honey baked ham in a non stick pan. No oil needed.
3. Place a slice of cheese on top of a piece of bread.
4. When the ham starts to brown in the pan, remove from the pan and place in on the cheese so that the cheese will melt from the hot ham.
5.Add lettuce and top with another piece of bread.
6. Holler for the kids while making hot chocolate. (This wakes the hubby up so that he knows it's almost time to wake up.See? 2 tasks solved at one time)

Dining Out @ Yayoiken Japanese Restaurant @ Liang Court

The easily excited family endured hunger to queue at this restaurant. and was worth every minute of waiting.
The queue was much shorter after dinner.

Hmmm..... stern warning.

Hmmm.... The least excited mum is thinking of keeping her utensils like dat too.....

Do not be fooled by its simple and plain look, ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC with rice.

Happy customers

We'll definitely be back again!

The most important meal of the day - BREAKFAST

Most kids either skip breakfast or have some cereal for breakfast as their parents need to rush out for work in the morning. Like me, I already wake up very early to tidy up the house, so I seldom have the time to make a sumptuous breakfast even for myself, needless to say, for the kids.

All mothers have this tendency to feel guilty when they are not able to provide something homey for the kids. And all that guilt building up inside you can really make you feel unhappy and stressed out. Even so during busy work periods with deadlines to meet and cranky bosses.

Thus, it is important for us mothers do so something homey once in a while, like breakfast this morning.

This morning, I made a simple breakfast for the kids this morning. It's so fuss free, I woke up at the same time to scramble the eggs and wasn't late for work today. The kids could finish up easily and not rush through it.

If I manage to keep this up, I'll get more presentable plates for that real breakfast feel.

A mental note to add sauteed mushrooms the next time :)

My working desk

The Convenient Stock List

I bought this small magnetic white board  from Daiso. It comes with a small white board marker as well but the ink dries out in 3 days (well, whaddaya expect for $2???)

I keep this board on the fridge door and will write down whenever the supplies are low and need to be purchased. The fridge is located in the kitchen which is near the washroom, near the cupboard where I keep the cleaning item etc, so it's very convenient to just write down.

When the list runs down to item 5 or 6, just take a snapshot with your mobile and the next time you're at the supermarket, just whip out your phone and ta-daa...!!!

Beats rummaging the drawers for a piece of paper to write down your grocery list, or smacking your forehead at the supermarket when you realise you have forgotten to bring along the list.

Also, anyone can just leave a funny message to cheer up your day :)

Weekend Fun (Singapore) @ Home

The easily excited family can even get excited at home. The least excited mum gets the kids to help out in preparing the steamboat dinner.

"You have to clean as you work! Clean as you work!"
"Yes, Ratatouie....."

Trimming off the stems of the mushrooms

No contribution AT ALL

Tadaa....!!!!

Learning to let go - The Little Red Helmet

We have consolidated some of the Excited Little One's toys to be sent to The Salvation Army. The toys are quite new and we are giving them away because the Excited Little One is growing up and there are just too much toys lying around everywhere in her room.

This red helmet is one of her favorites and has, for many times, been reluctant to part with it. She got it when she visited one of the local fire stations during her kindergarten days. I have to say, it really is a very pretty helmet, almost like the real thing, doesn't it.

This time, I silently placed the helmet together with the other items to be given away. She looked at it silently, thoughtful, as if thinking back on the days she had fun wearing it and imagining herself to be the fire warden, running on her then plump feet. She then turned away, distracted by some other activities that entered her mind.

And this time, it was me, who gave the little red helmet a reluctant last look, recalling the times it had sat amusingly on my little girl's head. As I said a silent goodbye to the pretty little helmet, it was like saying goodbye to my little girl's toddler days and realising she is growing up too fast.

I hope our little red helmet ends up with another little girl or little boy and continue to bring fun memories to its new owner.

Nostalgic Streets of Batu Pahat

Batu Pahat is a small sleepy town in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The easily excited dad grew up here and maybe that's why he is such a deep sleeper ....zzzzzzz....

The architecture comprises of old buildings, some are quite beautiful I must say. Alot of nostalgia can be felt as you walk along the shophouses. There are old provision shops selling old school toys and tidbits, and round the corner you are likely to find an old coffeehouse with marble tables.

Malay restaurants can be seen almost everywhere, and they serve local favourites like prata, seafood tomyum, nasi briyani, assam fish.

This old petrol kiosk will serve well as a slasher flick setting, wouldn't it?

Foodstalls along a street as vehicles drive pass. Not exactly for the hygiene conscious, but maybe it's the "special" ingredients that make the food so ultra delicious.

The bus interchange that was revamped a few years ago.

Old beautiful building

Large signboards a frequent sight

The butcher shop

Yes, people still do stay in them

A fancy shopping centre

This small sleepy town always welcome us during our monthly weekend visits (the mozzies as well....) Townsfolk like me balked at the dirty drains that sometimes overflow during the rain, or the houseflies that I fervously bat away during meals, or shit dropping birds that house in the shop ceilings while i try to concentrate on a local dessert. But as years go by, this little sleepy town grows on me and my children, as we come in for the food and relaxation, away from the stressful fast paced town, where neighbours and friends just drop by anytime of the day with fruits they have planted, or maybe someone else has given them.

The town does try hard to keep up with the pace, with fancy movieplexes, fast food outlets, but it still does make sure it does not lose it's old school charm.

High Tea, Anyone?

I bought this English High Tea tray from Ikea and absolutely love it! The whole idea of earrings hanging from the different layers of the tray seems so funky to me.

The earrings have been removed from the tray now as there just isn't enough place for more of them now. I have just reused the tray for our X'mas party this year, and the kids love eating sweets from the tray.
